It’s Not What You Eat. It Is How You Eat!

Does healthy eating mean having less and less on your plate? If it is, then healthy eating might as well means eating nothing. And yet health experts say that you don’t really have to eat less if you want to lose weight. All you need is to have a new approach on food. The problem is not what you eat, but how you eat them and at what portions.

How much nutrients do you think your body got from what you ate for dinner? If you could only count the calories and the trans fat, but not the nutrients, then that should convince you that what you had for dinner was not good for your body. Think about the nourishment that you are getting from the foods you eat before you decide to gulp them or take another bite.

So how do you change the way you eat? Here are a few tips to help you:

  • Eat pasta dishes when you are with other people.

Eating with other people come with both nutritional and social benefits. When you eat pasta dishes alone, you have the tendency to consume everything in large bites. Your goal when eating alone is usually to eat everything as fast as you could. When you eat with other people, you will mind how much you eat, thus you end up eating less than you normally would. Also, sharing of stories with other people can help reduce food intake and increase social interaction. And yet, at the end of the conversation, you will still full.

  • Take the time to chew your meat properly.

Meat is a good source of protein that the body needs to strengthen the muscles and improve the body’s metabolism. Instead of eating less meat, you should try chewing it more to help lessen the work of the digestive system. More importantly, chewing meat can help lessen meat intake because you get the full satisfaction after eating every bite.

  • Do you really have to eat that slice of bread?

Ask yourself this question every time you feel like taking an extra bite or two of a cookie or bread or any pastry. Sometimes, we use our busy schedule as an excuse to eat more than we normally should. So before you give in to that temping slice of cake, ask yourself this question. You might not really be hungry. Perhaps eating is just another excuse for you not to do your job.

  • Don’t forget to eat those pancakes for breakfast.

Never try to skip breakfast no matter how busy you may be. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day precisely because it makes you feel throughout the day. With that effect, you can choose to eat small frequent meals throughout the day to lessen consumption. When you are able to do this, you’d be able to lessen the calorie intake allowing your body to burn the stored body fat instead.

It’s not about what you eat, but the weight problem is about how you eat the foods that you eat. With these tips in mind, you never have to feel fat ever again.
